AMSTERDAM, Netherlands--(CCNMatthews - Jan 17, 2005) -
Subsequent to the decision by the United States Government
Printing Office (GPO) to issue additional awards to the 4 next
highest-rated bidders from its initial evaluation process for a
contract to provide technology for the US electronic passport,
Olivier Piou, CEO of Axalto, made the following comments:
"Axalto supports the Government Printing Office's decision as it
represents the best way to ensure that US citizens will benefit
without delay from the increase in security that the electronic
passport will provide. Since our contract award in early October
2004, we have fully complied with all GPO delivery and testing
requirements.
