Article: Court Agrees to Delay Grasso Compensation Trial

Former New York Stock Exchange chairman Dick Grasso won a delay in his trial over a $190 million pay package that New York Attorney General Eliot L. Spitzer claimed was excessive.

A state appeals court pushed back the Oct. 16 trial date until it can rule on two Grasso appeals.

One challenges the trial judge's refusal to throw out four of six Spitzer claims about Grasso's pay. The other, set for an October hearing, attacks the same judge's decision to hold a non-jury trial on whether the compensation was unreasonable.

The postponement, opposed by Spitzer, may give Grasso a better chance to win the case. The delay may also put any loss for Spitzer, the Democratic candidate for New York ...
