Bring on Hampton?
Well, maybe not yet. But after No. 13 Stone Bridge handled No. 17
Oakton, the defending Virginia AAA Division 6 champion, on Friday
night in a 35-7 home win, the Bulldogs sure seemed like they might
be game to take on Hampton. Besides Oakton, that was the only other
team they lost to last year, in the Division 5 state final.
No fewer than six Bulldogs had a run or reception for 19 yards or
more Friday night, and Stone Bridge scored on its first four
possessions to make a rout of a game that seemed like a pretty even
matchup going in.
Oakton had won 28-6 last year but had to replace its entire
defense, and Stone Bridge is loaded on offense. Even so ...
