CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - June 22, 2006) - North American
Oil Sands Corporation ("North American") is pleased to announce that
it has completed a private placement for total gross proceeds of $325
million. The private placement included over $200 million from new
prominent institutional investors from Canada, USA, Europe and
Australia. Private equity funds managed by ARC Financial Corporation,
and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board, who together also represent
North American's founding institutional shareholders, acquired nearly
one third of the offering. TD Securities Inc. and RBC Capital Markets
acted as joint lead agents on behalf of North American for the equity
issue.
