Montgomery County's park and planning agency took a major step
last week toward ending its management of four county golf courses
it operated for 40 years.
But at least two planning board members are worried about the
long-term impact on low-cost public recreation. Adding to their
concerns was a report that showed the Montgomery County Revenue
Authority, which has been managing the courses on a temporary basis
since April, does not appear to have complied with some federal
environmental regulations.
In a 4 to 1 vote Thursday, the planning board, which supervises
the $100 million park and planning agency, formally transferred golf
course operations to the revenue authority for at least 30 ...
