The USS Cole and its crew of more than 300 sailors returned to the
home port of Norfolk, Va., on April 25, after spending 14 months in
Pascagoula, Miss., undergoing repairs for damage suffered from a
terrorist attack in Yemen in October 2000.
As part of the crew responsible for bringing the Cole back to the
fleet, Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Corey M. Kozera, son of Gregory
and Lynnda Kozera of Elkview, was on board for the homecoming. Kozera
joined the Navy in June 1990 after graduating from Charleston
Catholic High School in 1988.
A 32-year-old fire control technician, Kozera reported on board
the USS Cole in November 2001 while the ship's repairs were underway.
