BEFORE having open-heart surgery, Mayme Hopkins made a phone call.
"I called Millie from the emergency room to let her know I couldn't
be in," Hopkins said. The 50-year-old Logan resident knew she
couldn't miss a Weight Watchers meeting without telling anyone. After
all, she was the group leader.
"I said, 'Millie, I'm going to have surgery and I can't teach my
meeting.' That's how important Weight Watchers is to me."
Millie Snyder, president and CEO of Weight Watchers of West
Virginia, smiles and laughs at the memory.
"It really, really saved my life," said Hopkins, a pharmacist.
"Weight Watchers took me safely to surgery." If she hadn't lost those
