The sounds in Vicky Mellert's class are all familiar to pregnant
women.
The occasional grunt. A heavy sigh. And the fluid breaths that
mark the sign of delivery.
But Mellert isn't helping to deliver a newborn or even teaching
soon-to-be-mothers Lamaze.
In her class, the expectant mothers are grunting and breathing
heavily because they are holding one of 52 yoga poses Mellert teaches
in a newly formed pregnancy yoga class.
In the tree pose, mothers-to-be place their right foot to the
inside of the left thigh and balance. A pretty big challenge for an
8 1/2-month pregnant woman.
