A new sound of music permeates the University of Charleston these
days, coming from the general direction of Geary Auditorium.
The facility now contains a restored pipe organ, to be dedicated
Sunday with a recital by UC faculty member Barbara Wright and the
University Singers. A reception follows in the nearby Rotunda.
Karen Merriman, UC's vice president for advancement, said the
$100,000 pipe organ project represents a collaborative effort. The
process started with Dick Walker of Walker Machinery, the
instrument's original owner, who had the organ in his house.
