Failing grades ConsumerLab.com tested 15 commercially available
calcium supplements for three things: amount of calcium, purity and
ability to be disintegrated so the body can absorb calcium. Two of
the products contained levels of lead that exceeded a California
standard: Coral Calcium Supreme and Source Naturals, which also didnt
fully break apart, meaning its calcium might not be fully absorbed by
the body. Differing dosages How much calcium you need depends on
your age. The National Academy of Sciences makes these
recommendations: Age 1 to 3:500 mg/day Age 4 to 8:800 mg/day
Age 18 to 50:1,000 mg/day Older than 50:1,200 mg/day
