After Phillip "Icky" Frye appeared on a radio talk show about his
campaign for governor, some lawyers speculated that state and federal
privacy laws may have been breached by his secret interception of e-
mail and instant messages.
The messages were exchanged between Frye's former wife Angela
Mascia, a state development office employee, and Gov. Bob Wise.
Joseph C. Cometti, Frye's lawyer, appeared with his client on the
statewide morning show, MetroNews "Talkline," last Wednesday.
During the show, hosted by Hoppy Kercheval, Frye stated: "I
captured all the computer IMs [instant messages]. A lot of people
