After Phillip "Icky" Frye appeared on a radio talk show about his campaign for governor, some lawyers speculated that state and federal privacy laws may have been breached by his secret interception of e- mail and instant messages.

The messages were exchanged between Frye's former wife Angela Mascia, a state development office employee, and Gov. Bob Wise.

Joseph C. Cometti, Frye's lawyer, appeared with his client on the statewide morning show, MetroNews "Talkline," last Wednesday.
