Article: Hamlin native writes tribute to Lincoln County veterans

As Bob L. VandeLinde sees it, Lincoln County has produced some of America's most tenacious protectors of freedom.

"Lincoln Countians are very special, patriotic people. They always step up when the country is in trouble," VandeLinde said.

He should know. VandeLinde is a Lincoln County native who was wounded in action as a U.S. Army paratrooper in the Korean War.

Retired from the insurance business, the Hamlin High School graduate began reflecting on the sacrifices made by other Lincoln County men and women, from World War I to Desert Storm.
