HUNTINGTON - Even after years of working for Cabell County, Karen
Cole still thrills at the daily vision as she arrives for work under
the courthouse's five gleaming domes.
Yes, you read it correctly. Five.
Think over-the-top wedding cake trimmed in gold leaf, and you
begin to grasp the basics of the architectural style of the Cabell
County courthouse.
Substitute a clock tower for the bride and groom, and there it is.
"Those domes are the first thing you see coming over Fifth Street
hill into the city," said Cole, Cabell's elected county clerk. "When
the sun is shining and they're shining, well, it always gives me a
lift."
