When it comes to taking vitamins, it's better to be safe than
sorry, medical experts say.
As many as 70 percent of Americans take vitamins and/or
supplements with the intent to improve their health, according to a
Tufts University study.
Although there's no evidence that they cure disease, illnesses or
can make you lose weight as some now claim, studies show that
vitamins ward off bad health by making sure the body has what it
needs to properly function.
"Just like the name indicates, they're essential for life," said
Art Jacknowitz, a West Virginia University pharmacy professor.
