The man who prompted Gov. Bob Wise to admit an extramarital affair
still plans to run for governor, even with Wise out of the race.
Phillip "Icky" Frye filed precandidacy papers as a Democrat with
the Secretary of State's office on Tuesday.
"After experiencing the corruption of government firsthand, I want
to give people a choice that is not mainstream," said Frye, 41, of
Hugheston.
Frye had vowed to run in May, when he told the media of an affair
between his then-wife, Angela Mascia, and Wise, 55.
"It was fueled by revenge to some degree, and I wanted to
embarrass Wise," Frye said Tuesday. "Now, I want to offer people a
regular Joe, so to speak."
