A lot is left to be decided around the state in the final weekend
of regular-season prep football games.
Only three spots are left open for the 16-team playoff field in
Class AAA, according to projections provided to the Gazette. The top
11 teams, plus No. 13 Parkersburg, have already locked up berths.
That leaves six teams battling for the three openings - No. 11
Robert C. Byrd, No. 14 Princeton, No. 15 Capital, No. 16 Hampshire,
No. 17 Spring Valley and No. 18 Fairmont Senior.
The most important games in Class AAA find Spring Valley at
Princeton and RCB at Parkersburg South. The Timberwolves need to win
to get in, and the Eagles could be left out unless they upset No. 3
