Upon entering Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in Hurricane,
visitors are greeted by colorful reminders of the season - church
seasons, that is.
The church, which is a consolidation of the former Grace Lutheran
in St. Albans and Holy Cross Lutheran in Teays Valley, has one of the
largest area collections of cloth banners that symbolize the seasons
of the church. The seasons of the church include Advent, Christmas,
Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
More than 65 of the colorful banners - seasonal and non-seasonal -
are in Cross of Grace Lutheran's collection.
The existing banners came from the two former churches, but Peg
