Article: Hot Spot opponents to discuss petitions

Opponents of a Kanawha City video lottery establishment will meet again at 7:15 p.m. today at the Kanawha City Recreation Center to discuss petitions asking that the Hot Spot be shut down.

People opposed to the businesses opening last month, including Charleston City Councilman John Miller and state Senate Minority Leader Vic Sprouse, R-Kanawha, have met three times so far.

Miller said about 300 people have signed a petition against the business. Some businesses have sent letters opposing the Hot Spot as well.

The petition will be presented at the Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals meeting at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 12.
