Article: Citizens meet in Kanawha City to protest video lottery parlor

It was after a Kanawha County Circuit Court judge ruled on Monday that the controversial Hot Spot Lounge & Cafe video lottery parlor could open in Kanawha City that Andrea Richardson started getting angry phone calls.

On Wednesday, 45 people called her tanning salon in Kanawha City, upset about the video poker machines in her shop.

Except she doesn't have any poker machines.

Richardson's salon, two blocks west of the parlor, is also called the Hot Spot.

"I had to tell everyone I'm not affiliated" with the parlor, Richardson said. Her olive cheeks turn pink as she rails against the club stealing the name of her 6-year-old salon. "They're using my name."
