LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Randy Ruiz belted two homers, including a solo
shot in the eighth inning for the go-ahead run, as the Lakewood
BlueClaws defeated the Charleston Alley Cats 6-4 Tuesday to sweep
their two-game series at FirstEnergy Park.
Charleston (8-4) got on the board in the first inning on an RBI
single from Clint Johnston, but the BlueClaws replied in the bottom
half of the inning with a run-scoring groundout off Alley Cats
starter Danny Core, who struck out six and scattered six hits in six
innings.
Ruiz hit a homer in the bottom of the fourth to give Lakewood (5-
7) a 2-1 lead.
