Owners of the controversial Hot Spot video lottery lounge asked a
Kanawha County judge Thursday to reverse a Charleston zoning board's
ruling that the business shouldn't have been allowed to open.
The Hot Spot's operators say they didn't have a chance at the
city's Board of Zoning Appeals hearing on Aug. 12. At that hearing,
the board ruled that the lottery cafe's owners were not far enough
along in their plans when a new city ordinance went into effect that
required more distance between gambling parlors.
During the Aug. 12 hearing, Hot Spot owners allege, the zoning
board considered irrelevant evidence and comments from Mayor Danny
Jones and others that likely hurt ...
