Article: Special session eyed for drug costs: Wise wants current Legislature to act on cost-management plan

Gov. Bob Wise said Friday he could call a special session of the Legislature on prescription drug prices before the end of this month - if there is consensus among lawmakers to do so.

"If there's not consensus in the Legislature for a special session, you don't want them sitting there at $35,000 a day, day after day," Wise said after the last of five town hall meetings statewide to discuss the recommendations of the Pharmaceutical Cost Management Council.

Wise said it's not feasible to call a special session next week, since many legislators will be attending out-of-town interim meetings in Shepherdstown from Sunday through Tuesday.
