Kathy Chaney wears a nearly ankle-length cotton dress, carries a
large woven picnic basket, and has her hair pulled back into
pigtails.
"I'm Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz,'" Chaney, 51, tells the
children assembled at the front of the Christ Church United Methodist
sanctuary for the "Moments with Children" part of the service.
A tornado came and swept her away to Oz, where, frightened, she
met the scarecrow, the tin man and the lion. "We all started off on
this journey to see if we could find what we need," Chaney said.
In time, they reach the Emerald City, and meet the wizard, who
fixes them up and makes them whole.
