Mozart turns 250 this year, and everyone's celebrating, including
the Milwaukee Symphony.
The orchestra and numerous guests will play a four-program, six-
concert Mozart Festival over two weekends, starting Friday. Music
director Andreas Delfs will conduct four of the concerts. Former
resident conductor and current frequent guest Andrew Massey will
preside over two.
Mozart, after a childhood of being paraded around Europe as one of
music's first prodigies by an ambitious father, grew up amid a shift
in Western art music. The Industrial Revolution was dawning, the
middle class was beginning to grow, and music was starting to
