Article: Fire guts unoccupied house; Fire at new home for sale in Fox Point was arson, authorities say

Fox Point - A fire that gutted a new, unoccupied house at 6586 N. Birch Hill Court last month was arson, police investigator Dan Gehring said Wednesday.

Gehring said evidence recovered from the gutted-out building was analyzed at the State Crime Laboratory and indicated the blaze was deliberately set. No suspects are in custody, he said. The Fox Point police are being assisted by the State Fire Marshal's Office and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Gehring declined to say if the investigation had identified a specific accelerant that had been used or where the fire was started.

The house was built and owned by Chester Daxe, who lived in an adjacent house.
