SANTA ANA, Calif. - A female great white shark that was caught off
Huntington Beach last August and became a celebrity at the Monterey
Bay Aquarium was released back into the wild before sunrise Thursday.
It had started looking at its aquarium-mates as dinner - acting
like a hunter - and snacked on a couple of soupfin sharks last month,
said aquarium officials. And the white shark had grown so much during
its six-month stay that handling it became difficult.
On Monday, biologists saw clear signs that it was hunting other
fish species in the million-gallon Outer Bay exhibit in which it was
living.
