The thing that most people think of when they think about Kanawha City?

John Blair says it's MacCorkle Avenue, the four-lane artery with its bumper-to-bumper traffic and endless line of shopping centers.

But Blair and others who live there don't see it that way.

"I just see [MacCorkle] like everyone else, as a way to get through Kanawha City. I get off at 44th Street and go to my house and that's it," he said. "To me, Kanawha City starts at the edges of MacCorkle Avenue."

On Tuesday, Blair and others like him will hold the inaugural meeting of the Kanawha City Community Association.
