Officials with the Mountaineer Food Bank in Gassaway honored their
volunteers in a ceremony earlier this month, and, once again, they
invited new people to volunteer for the state's largest food bank.
The Mountaineer Food Bank provides food to more than 260,000
people each month. Corporate sponsors and volunteers make it possible
to gather and distribute that much food.
Carla Nardella, executive director of the Mountaineer Food Bank,
said Thursday that they can always use a variety of volunteers. "We
can use people to stuff envelopes or repack product. Some volunteers
do unload trucks, and some pick up a broom and sweep the warehouse,"
