FRANKFORT, Ky. - Gov. Ernie Fletcher was taken to the hospital
Thursday for emergency treatment of a life-threatening blood clot
somewhere between his upper arm and his jugular vein.
It was the second time in a month that the 53-year-old Fletcher
was hospitalized.
His condition was not immediately disclosed.
A legislative leader asked members of the House to pray for the
first-term Republican governor. "It's a serious, serious situation,"
said state Rep. Jeff Hoover.
A blood clot can lead to a stroke or a heart attack, or can travel
to the lungs with deadly consequences.
Fletcher was released from the hospital only last week after an 18-
