After reaching the Division II College World Series and finishing
No. 5 in the nation, there's nowhere for the West Virginia State
baseball team to go but down, right?
Well, maybe not.
The Yellow Jackets, who are scheduled to open their season with a
four-game weekend series at Concord, have reloaded, largely with the
help of junior college transfers who'll fill spots vacated by
graduating seniors.
"We lost a lot of guys who pitched a lot last year, and we'll try
to plug those holes with junior college guys," veteran State coach
Calvin Bailey said. "When you do that, it doesn't put as much
pressure on the freshmen and the young players."
