Article: City to give away historical house,: Council to consider Craik-Patton bill to clear up title

Friends of the historic Craik-Patton House could soon gain ownership of the house and ground beneath it at Daniel Boone Park.

Members of Charleston City Council will consider a bill Monday that would transfer the property from the city to Craik-Patton Inc., the nonprofit group that has been keeping up the home for at least 30 years.

At least some friends of the 1834 Greek Revival home - the oldest clapboard house in the Kanawha Valley, built by the grandson of the doctor who ministered to George Washington - may have thought they already owned the property.
