Rich Rodriguez met with Alabama officials for at least 45 minutes Tuesday afternoon in New York, a meeting Rodriguez termed as "a very informal talk" about the Crimson Tide's football program.

It seems, though, that the question of how deep Rodriguez goes into more formal discussions about Alabama's coaching vacancy could be answered as much by West Virginia officials as by the Tide's interest in him.

Quite simply, Rodriguez wants to know that West Virginia is committed to making the WVU program the best it can be. If he is satisfied with the answers, it seems it would be a lot easier for him to turn a deaf ear to any other suitors.
