Article: South Charleston mayoral candidates speak at forum

The five Democratic candidates running for mayor of South Charleston gathered for a Meet the Candidates forum April 3 in the LaBelle Theater.

They addressed such issues as metro government, police and fire protection, business and occupation taxes and the city's recreational outlets.

Republican candidate Frank Mullens did not attend.

The candidates are seeking the office now held by Mayor Richie Robb, who is stepping down June 30 after more than 30 years in office.

The South Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the South Charleston Woman's Club sponsored the event.

Beth Vorhees of West Virginia Public Radio served as the moderator.
