Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper is urging members of the county parks board to pay off their debt with money from the sale of Sandy Brae golf course.

On Monday, the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission agreed to accept an offer from businessman Scott Pierson to buy the 250-acre golf course, which is located just inside the Roane County line. The parks board and county officials put the financially strapped golf course up for auction in February, then held a second auction to see if they could get a better offer.
