Through most of the late innings, the Power continually threatened
but failed to break a tie that had persisted since the fourth.
The Power even loaded the bases with none out in the seventh and
still stranded the go-ahead run.
Such failures in the clutch were highly unbecoming of a team that
owns a first-half division championship, leads the league in hitting,
brought a 59-30 record into the game and had attracted another big
crowd of 6,441 on fireworks night.
And when the Power loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, it
raised the possibility of more frustration, but Kenny Holmberg
scorched a long sacrifice fly to left to score Andrew Lefave for a 3-
2 ...
