Banish backyard boredom with these unusual vegetables that will have your neighbors saying, "It's a what?"

Asparagus beans are stringless, with a distinctive, sweet flavor. Also called yard-long beans, they usually measure more like 2 feet than 3, which still is long enough to raise some eyebrows. The beans taste best when they're harvested about a foot long.

As easy to grow as any other beans, asparagus beans are a pole type, so give them a fence or trellis to climb.
