Article: Oklahoma's tree service firms capitalize on ice

A winter ice storm that proved a disaster to many Oklahoma homeowners provided a blessing of sorts to Oklahoma's tree service industry in what is otherwise a slow time of the year.

Not that anyone in that field likes to see it.

"It's terrible, terrible this happened," said Debbie Taylor, the office manager for Nick's Tree Service in Tulsa, who's been with the firm a decade. "I've never seen it this bad in the area."

Nick's had its two crews out working emergency calls since 7 a.m. Monday. Wright Tree Care of Tulsa had five crews out, handling the most dire needs from the 200 calls it had received before noon.
