As far as Jamey Carroll was concerned, the only downer was the
final score.
Other than that, "I couldn't ask for a better way to start," said
the Montreal Expos rookie from Newburgh.
Carroll celebrated his big-league debut by going 2-for-3, but the
Expos lost to the Chicago Cubs, 6-3, on Wednesday at Wrigley Field.
"It was everything I thought it would be, and more," said the 27-
year-old third baseman, who was a standout at Castle High School and
the University of Evansville. "Except that we lost, I couldn't be
happier."
The Expos called up Carroll on Tuesday and he was in uniform for
that night's game at Wrigley Field, but didn't play.
