Get ready for some serious doughnut wars in Evansville.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the company that has been expanding rapidly throughout the United States the past two years, now has its eyes on the Evansville market.

"We are in fact looking for a site in Evansville," said spokeswoman Brooke Smith from the Krispy Kreme headquarters in North Carolina.

"We don't have an exact time frame yet, but once we find a site we'll be able to do that," she said.

Speculation has been running rampant in recent weeks that the popular doughnut company might be coming to Evansville. But when contacted last month, a company official said there were no immediate plans for Evansville.
