Article: FIFTH THIRD ACQUIRES DE JONG'S BUILDING

The Downtown de Jong's building, purchased Thursday for $100,000 by Fifth Third Bank, will be packaged with two adjacent bank-owned parcels and offered for sale.

Lloyd Winnecke, Fifth Third vice president and marketing director, said the acquisition of the de Jong's building at 308 Main St. was "strictly for investment purposes" and not to be used for bank operations.

The de Jong's property will be combined with the Centrum building, located on one side of de Jong's, and a small parking lot on the other side at Third and Main streets to sell, Winnecke said.
