Call them the "Big-Play Bulldogs."
The Carmi-White County football team used three huge offensive
plays to score their all three of their touchdowns en route to a 19-
14 win over Carterville in the Class 3A state playoffs on Saturday.
Two of the touchdowns were on long jaunts by running back Chris
Anderson; the third was on a pitch to wide receiver Charlie David. In
all, the three scoring plays covered 196 yards.
The victory, on a cold, blustery afternoon, sends unbeaten Carmi
(11-0) to a matchup at home with Du Quoin (10-1) on Saturday in the
third round of the Illinois Class 3A state playoffs.
"I'm shaking right now," Carmi coach Kurt Simon said after the
