A full day of activities has been planned for May 15 to celebrate
the life and times of Mount Carmel native Brace Beemer, the voice of
radio's Lone Ranger.
Beemer was born in Mount Carmel in 1902, and was the voice of the
Lone Ranger for 14 years. He died in 1965 at the age of 62.
"When the television version of the Lone Ranger came out, Brace's
famous `Hiyo, Silver, away!' was dubbed in over Clayton Moore for the
opening shot," said Joe Young of Bridgeport, Ill., a longtime
collector of Lone Ranger memorabilia and a member of the Lone Ranger
