Kansas City, Mo. - That much-ballyhooed Bob Knight-Mike
Krzyzewski matchup is going to have to wait for another day.
The Marquette Golden Eagles saw to that on Monday night by
playing spoiler to Knight's Texas Tech Red Raiders and ESPN
executives alike in notching an impressive 87-72 victory in the
semifinals of the CBE Classic at Municipal Auditorium, and earning a
date with Krzyzewski's Duke Blue Devils in the championship game
instead.
Sophomore guard Wesley Matthews scored 14 of his game-high 20
points in the second half to spark MU, which shot 55.2% and enjoyed
a 46-20 scoring advantage over Tech in the paint.
