Shortstop Clint Barmes has been one of the few bright spots for a
Colorado Rockies team that is off to a 6-12 start.
Actually, he's been by far the brightest.
As Rockies second baseman Aaron Miles said the other day, "Clint's
so hot right now, he glows in the dark."
That's only a slight exaggeration.
The rookie from Vincennes, Ind., went into Tuesday night's game
with a 10-game hitting streak and the majors' best batting
average:.438.
Barmes got off to a hot start last year, too. While playing for
the Rockies' triple-A farm team in Colorado Springs, he kept his
average around .350 until late June and finished at.328.
But that was against minor-league pitching; this is the majors.
