Friends are remembering former Union County Judge-Executive James D. "Jimmy" Veatch, who died of lung cancer Friday at a Venice, Fla., hospital, as a "people person."

"If he saw you a block away, he'd holler and whistle and wave at you," said Sturgis, Ky., chiropractor Dr. John Arnold, who represents Union County in the Kentucky House of Representatives. "He was a people person. He enjoyed his job and did a good job."
