Article: EXPERIENCE A `SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY' THROUGH AVIATION HISTORY

Area residents will get to experience some genuine aviation history this week at Evansville Regional Airport.

The B-17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey, a fully restored World War II vintage airplane, will be at the airport from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, weather permitting.

It will be available for public tours, and $5 donations will be requested. Tour proceeds benefit the plane and the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, a nonprofit organization based in Mesa, Ariz.

The airplane, which was on display this past week in Davenport, Iowa, and East Alton, Ill., will be parked at the Tri-State Aero ramp during its Evansville visit.
