It's not by happenstance that Browning Funeral Home -- a first-
place finisher Wednesday at this year's Beautiful Business Awards
event -- has meticulously manicured grounds around its property at
738 Diamond Ave. on Evansville's North Side.
Besides wanting to look good for the business' customers and the
community, the landscape maintenance is ingrained in the operators
and staff from the time they are in mortuary school.
"We were told in school to be ready to plant flowers and take care
of the grounds -- as our first job -- when we graduated and got hired
by a funeral home," said Jeannie Browning-Hester, Browning's owner
and manager.
