Evansville-based Shoe Carnival Inc. on Wednesday unveiled plans
for a $40 million expansion to include a new and significantly larger
distribution center on Indiana 57 and a new corporate headquarters on
the East Side.
Founded in Evansville in 1978, the footwear retailer projects it
will expand its 330-strong work force in its distribution center/
corporate headquarters on Baumgart Road by 121 jobs over the next
five years.
Shoe Carnival officials said that combined facility a the new
plans call for two buildings a is too small for the company's growth
plans.
The current distribution center is 200,000 square feet, compared
to the planned new distribution center's 410,000 square feet.
