Jamey Carroll could see the handwriting on the wall. He could also read the stories in the newspapers and listen to the rumors on radio and TV.

They all told him the same thing: that his days as a Washington National were numbered.

So Carroll wasn't surprised when he got a phone call from the Nationals Saturday, saying they'd sold his contract to the Colorado Rockies.
