The Ohio River is a transportation highway that contributes
significantly to our well-being and affects the lives of millions of
Americans. Electricity in our homes and businesses is generated from
the coal carried on the river to power plants. Metals, stone and
cement are brought to our factories via the river and converted to
products to build our towns and cities. Grain heads south to the
world market.
A report drafted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recommends
ways to protect this important asset and keep it serving our needs
well into the future. The draft Ohio River Mainstem System Study
